Scooter Ride for Mike Matusow? Not Yet
About an hour ago, Mike Matusow had one foot out the door. But he's not going anywhere just yet. In fact, he's now sitting firmly in his chair. Matusow has his scooter parked about two yards away from his seat, and it seems it will remain there for a while.
"I've had a lot of comebacks here, making final tables coming back out of a few big blinds," Matusow said, before adding, "but if I win this, it might be the best comeback of my life, because I was defeated."
Matusow pointed to a hand when he was down to last 6,000, and only Cary Katz saved him in a three-way pot, forcing a fold from third player who had Matusow beat. However, the poker gods (or at least Cary Katz) came to the rescue, and Matusow has rocketed back into contention.
He's now up to more than 90,000 after winning a pot against Konstantin Puchkov. Matusow looked at the screens and revealed his plan: "Last two levels. I need a couple of sevens."
It's been a long day, and two more hours are ahead of the four-time WSOP bracelet winner. "I need to sleep, I'm tired," Matusow added.
