Howard Quarters Hemingway, Gibson Stays Alive

Level 21 : 2,500/5,000, 0 ante

Big O

The player in the hijack opened with a raise to 13,000, Jared Hemingway made a pot-sized reraise from the cutoff, Rock Howard four-bet to 175,000 from the button, and Joshua Gibson called all in from the big blind for about 22,500. The original raiser folded, Hemingway committed his entire stack, and all three players tabled their hands.

Gibson: {J-Spades}{10-Clubs}{9-Spades}{9-Clubs}{6-Clubs}
Howard: {A-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{6-Spades}{3-Clubs}{2-Hearts}
Hemingway: {A-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{2-Spades}

The board ran out {A-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}, giving Gibson a jack-high straight for the high half of the main pot. Howard took the low half of the main pot with a sixty-three, which was good for the low in the side pot as well, and Howard and Hemingway split the high half of the side pot since they both had two pairs, aces and deuces.

Tai Nguyen Takes Out Two

Level 21 : 2,500/5,000, 0 ante

Big O

With the flop reading {10-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}, short stack Chunyang Wu was already all in. David Brookshire and Tai Nguyen each committed 78,500 to see the {6-Diamonds} turn where Brookshire shoved for about 50,000. Nguyen called.

Wu: {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{6-Spades}{3-Clubs}
Brookshire: {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{7-Hearts}
Nguyen: {A-Spades}{9-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}

Brookshire held the nut straight while Nguyen had the low and a diamond draw.

The river was the {J-Diamonds}, giving Nguyen a flush to go along with his nut low to score the double elimination.

Wu took 24th place, Brookshire took 23rd, and Matt Smith busted at nearby table during that hand in 25th place.
