Two Double-Ups for Short Stacks During the Bubble

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Lucas Blanco was under the gun and raised to 14,000 with 2,700 behind. Mike Watson was on the button and called.

The flop was {k-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} and Blanco check-called Watson's bet of 2,700.

Watson tabled {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds} and Blanco showed {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}. The board ran out {j-Clubs} and the {5-Diamonds} giving Blanco the Broadway straight and the crucial double-up.

On another table Pascal Hartmann and Craig Varnell got it all in preflop. Hartmann tabled {5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} and Varnell showed {q-}{10-}. The board ran out clean for Hartmann, coming {8-Spades}{3-Spades}{2-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{6-Spades} and he also survived the bubble as it burst on another table on the same hand on hand-for-hand play.
