Hall of Famer McClelland Takes Down a Massive Four-Way All-In
Four players saw the flop of 9♦J♦3♥. 6,300 chips were already in the middle when Artem Metalidi bet out 3,000 from the big blind. Chris Walach, who was under the gun, raised to 6,000. Nam Nguyen cold-called the raise from early position. Hall of Famer Jack McClelland then went all in from the button for around 33,000 chips.
Metalidi thought for quite a while before throwing in the call for his entire stack of around 28,000 chips. Walach had much less behind and called as well. Nguyen then said: “Gamble!” and put her chips in the middle as well. She had all the players covered and was the only one in play for McClelland’s bounty.
Chris Walach: Q♠Q♦
Artem Metalidi: 10♦8♦
Jack McClelland: 9♠9♥
Nam Nguyen: A♦J♣
McClelland was ahead with a set of nines, while Walach had the overpair with queens. Nguyen had top pair top kicker and Metalidi was in with the open-ended straight flush draw.
The turn was the A♠, bringing in some outs for Nguyen, as she could make a full house with an ace or a jack.
The river, however, was the 3♣ and McClelland’s set held up. Walach and Metalidi were eliminated, while McClelland chipped-up to a massive stack of over 400 big blinds, making it a very long road ahead of anyone hoping to win his bounty.
