Level 13 : Limits 2,500/5,000, 0 ante
Ronnie Bardah
Ronnie Bardah

Action folded around to the Shane Douglas in the small blind who raised to 5,000, Ronnie Bardah made the call out of the big blind.

The flop came Q84 and Douglas bet 2,500, Bardah re-raised to 5,000 before Douglas made the three-bet to 7,500, Bardah made the call.

The turn was the 3, Douglas bet once again and Bardah called.

On the 5 river, Bardah commented to Douglas that he had the option to check, but Douglas made a wager of 5,000 anyways putting Bardah all-in. Bardah called, and Douglas tabled KK which Bardah could not beat, eliminating Bardah from the field.

Coombs Gets Tangled Up

Level 13 : Limits 2,500/5,000, 0 ante
Michael Coombs
Michael Coombs

This hand was relayed to the PokerNews team by a player on break:

Early position started with a raise before it folded to Michael Coombs in the big blind, who defended.

The dealer fanned out a board of A53. Coombs checked and the early position player bet and was met by a reraise from Coombs. The preflop raiser three bet and Coombs just called.

Heads up they saw the the 4 peel off. Coombs led the turn into his opponent and was befuddled by a raise from his opponent but made the call.

Coombs checked on the river 4 saying, "This hand makes no sense". The early position player responded by saying he didn't think that Coombs had anything and had been trying to bluff him, while at the same time placing a bet.

Coombs made the call and was shown quads when his opponent tabled 44 and he flashed AK before tossing his hand in the muck.

Player Spotlight

Level 8 : Limits 1,000/2,000, 0 ante
Kerry Welsh
Kerry Welsh

Kerry Welsh flagged down PokerNews to let us know that he's in danger of not cashing the $1500 Limit Hold'em for the 5th year in the row. He was down to just over 5,000 in chips but has doubled up twice since then.

Welsh got 46th place in 2019; The event was cancelled in 2020; He got 15th in 2021; 56th in 2022; then followed that up with an incredible 3rd place finish in 2023.

Welsh may say he's given up hope but it's clear he doesn't want to break his streak.

Justin Thurlow

Justin Thurlow just joined the table coming over from the Mystery Millions with a few crazy stories to entertain the table, none of which PokerNews can repeat.

Sitting in the cutoff Thurlow raised and the big blind called. The flop showed 776 and Thurlow placed a bet and the big blind called.

The turn brought the 10 and Thurlow continued betting and the big blind continued calling.

On the river 4 Thurlow placed one more bet and received a quick call. Thurlow flipped over 85 for the sneaky straight and the big blind mucked.
