Bello Finds the Aces in the Big Blind

Level 41 : Blinds 1,300,000/2,500,000, 2,500,000 ante

Action folded to Panagiotis Mavritsakis in the small blind and he put most of his chips in the middle, enough to cover Albyn Bello, who was in the big blind. Bello quickly announced call.

Albyn Bello: AAAll in
Panagiotis Mavritsakis: 92

Mavritsakis gained some outs after hitting middle pair on the flop of 79J.

For proof it is never easy, the turn J gave Mavritsakis a flush draw. However, the river was the J and Bello made a full house to double-up, while Mavritsakis was left with a short stack of less than five big blinds.

Mavritsakis Secures Double Up

Level 41 : Blinds 1,300,000/2,500,000, 2,500,000 ante

Panagiotis Mavritsakis made a large preflop bet of 17,500,000 and left a 100,000 chip behind.

Action folded to Lawrence Barber in the big blind, and Barber asked for a count. The dealer confirmed Mavritsakis’ bet and it sent Barber deep in the tank.

Barber used approximately a little more than two minutes on his decision, peeking down at his hole cards multiple times. He also looked over to the other table to observe the action before eventually making the call.

The player in the big blind folded, leading to the flop.

The dealer fanned QA5 on the board, and both players checked. The 9 showed up on the turn, resulting in both players to check.

The 4 on the river also brought about checks.

Barber tabled 1010, but his hand was no good against Mavritsakis’ AK for a pair of aces.

Action folded to Albyn Bello who took some time, but moved effectively all in leaving only 500,000 behind, from the cutoff for around 4,500,000. Bello got a call from Juan Garibaldi in the big blind and the players went heads-up to the 3KQ flop.

Garibaldi raised to 500,000 putting Bello all in, and Bello tanked. He glanced at the other table a number of times to see if there were any chances of securing the pay jump, but eventually made the call.

Albyn Bello: KJAll in
Juan Garibaldi: Qx4x

The dealer turned the 8 and placed the A to complete the board, and Bello got the needed double to stay alive with a pair of kings.

Duong Doubles Up Through Szumowski

Level 40 : Blinds 1,000,000/2,000,000, 2,000,000 ante

Ha Duong min-raised from middle position and Robert Szumowski on the button was the only caller.

The flop came 58K, Duong checked and Szumowski bet 5,000,000. Duong raised all in for 16,500,000 total. Szumowski took a moment and then threw in the calling chip.

Ha Duong: A8All in
Robert Szumowski: A3

Duong was ahead with middle pair, but Szumowski had many outs with a flush draw. However, Duong was able to dodge all of them on the 7 turn and 7 river and his two pair was good for a big double-up.

Szumowski lost a bit over a third of his chips, but remained in good spirits, commenting that his play was a gamble but one that ‘was fun’.
