Straight Flush Results in Small Pot for Hu

Level 2 : Blinds 200/300, 300 ante

Picking up the action on the turn, Evan Hu in the big blind was involved in a hand with Michael Trivett in the cutoff.

With the board reading Q84Q Hu checked. Trivett bet 2,300 and received a call from Hu.

The 10 river saw Hu check once more. After some time, Trivett checked back but quickly mucked after Hu announced "straight flush" as he turned over J9. While Hu did win the pot, it was clear that he was at least somewhat disappointed at being unable to extract more value with a hand that only comes around every so often.

Barr's Big Bet Gets Through

Level 2 : Blinds 200/300, 300 ante

Mike Watson, John Barr, and Tzur Levy checked the flop of 74Q to see the K come on the turn.

Watson checked from the small blind, Barr checked from the big blind, and Levy put out a bet of 1,800. Watson made the call before Barr check-raised to 7,500 and only Levy called,

The river was the Q. Barr thought for a while before he made a bet of 30,000. This sent Levy deep into the tank, before eventually he folded.

Barr flashed the 5 as he pulled in the pot.

George Sanford
George Sanford

George Sanford was in a three-way hand on the flop as it read 957. All three players checked to the turn which came the J. Richard Sperberg bet 2,000, Georgios Soritopoulos called and Sanford got out of the way. The river was the A, Sperberg fired 4,500 and Sotiropoulos folded to send Sperberg the pot.

Sanford is fortunate be playing in this main event as he just finished chemotherapy for stage 4 cancer and is currently playing against doctors wishes. But he said that he can not guarantee he will ever have another chance to play this tournament, which has been a bucket list for him for many years so he is making the most of the time he has now.
