Mitchell Gets Aggro in Consecutive Hands
They say aggression pays off in poker.
And Brandon Mitchell made a strong case for the argument in two straight hands after the dinner break despite being well below the starting chip stack.
On the first hand, Mitchell raised to 1,100 and received a call from a player in the big blind.
The dealer ran out 8♠4♦K♦ on the flop, which the player in the small blind checked. Mitchell made a continuation bet of 1,400, and the player in the small blind called.
The J♠ appeared on the turn, and the player in the small blind checked. Mitchell sized up to a 5,100 bet, which forced out his opponent.
On the very next hand, Mitchell raised to 1,100 while under the gun and then watched as the two players to his immediate left called. Action folded to the player in the small blind, and he also called, while the big blind folded.
The dealer fanned 2♦10♠2♣ on the board, and the player on the small blind checked. Mitchell then bet 1,200, which drew a call from the player to his immediate left. The remaining two players folded.
The J♥ showed up on the turn, and Mitchell bet 2,700, which his opponent called.
The 3♠ on the river slowed down action as Mitchell and the player to his immediate left checked.
Mitchell tabled A♥K♥, and his opponent folded.
