Saraf Makes the Call For a Nice Pot
Bracelet winner Susan Faber opened the action with a raise to 1,000 from early position. Megan Collins in the hijack called, as did Tamar Abraham in the cutoff, the player in the small blind and Kathy Saraf in the big blind.
The flop came 6♦3♥6♥. After checks from both blinds, Faber continued for 2,000 and Collins and Abraham both folded. The small blind called and Saraf raised to 7,600. Faber folded, but the player in the small blind, after some thinking, put in the call.
The turn was the Q♥. The small blind shoved for 9,100. Saraf thought for a moment, got the count and then called.
Small blind: 5♣5♦
Kathy Saraf: A♥6♣
Saraf was way ahead with her trips and the river J♣ gave her the lock on the hand, while her opponent headed to the reentries.
The table has had additional stakes going on apart from the tournament itself. Megan Collins has brought tiny glass ducks to the WSOP, which she adds to every pot that she gets involved in. Whoever wins the hand, also gets the small duck. Most of the players have got a duck so far, but this was Saraf's first. While she told the table that the odds and her hand were too good to fold anyway, the chance to win the duck definitely made the call easier.
