Action of the Day

The day began with a blistering pace as eliminations occurred left and right. As the bubble had just burst the night before, it took less than 2 hours for the field to almost halve from its starting size. Eliminations became less frequent as pay jumps became a factor. By the dinner break, only 59 players remained. As ICM implications came more into play, action slowed heavily. The day ended with the three table redraw having occurred shortly before the end of the day.

Alex and Kristen Foxen
Alex and Kristen Foxen

Some of the unfortunate players that failed to make it to Day 3 include Phil Ivey, Joao Simao, Mustafa Kanit, Brian Yoon, and the poker power couple of Kristen Foxen and Alex Foxen.

The final players will resume at 12 p.m. on June 29 on Level 28 with blinds at 50,000/100,000. Play will continue until a victor is crowned.

Stay tuned to PokerNews for the exciting finale of this tournament as well as all other 2024 WSOP events!

Cedolia Puts a Nasty Beat on Hwang

Level 27 : Blinds 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante

Michael Newman limped in from under the gun and Gianluca Cedolia did the same on his direct left. Action folded to Yung Hwang in the cutoff, who made it 415,000. Action folded back to Newman, who folded. Cedolia moved all in as the bigger stack and Hwang put in his stack of around 2,000,000.

Yung Hwang: AxKx
Gianluca Cedolia: AK

Both players were somewhat relieved that they'd likely be chopping the pot but the K93 flop gave Cedolia the freeroll to the scoop. The 10 turn gave Cedolia the flush draw, which somehow completed on the Q river.

Hwang was sickened and Cedolia offered several apologies as he dragged in the pot.
