Patrick Kennedy Eliminated in 8th Place ($86,000)

Level 39 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 0 ante
Patrick Kennedy
Patrick Kennedy

Patrick Kennedy limped on the button and Artur Martirosian checked his option.

Martirosian then proceeded to check-call bets from Kennedy on every street. First for 10,000 on the 8J10 flop, then for 40,000 on the 4 turn, and finally for his remaining stack for a bit over 100,000 on the 8 river.

Kennedy could only show 95 for a whiffed straight draw and Martirosian turned over J10 for two pair to earn his spot in the semifinals tomorrow.

Martirosian Extends His Lead

Level 38 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 0 ante

Patrick Kennedy opened to 20,000 on the button and Artur Martirosian defended his big blind.

Martirosian check-called a 14,000 bet from Kennedy on the K5Q flop and Martirosian checked again on the 6 turn.

This time, Kennedy sized up for an overbet of 102,000, which Martirosian called after a bit of thought.

Both players checked down on the 4 river and Kennedy tabled K10 for a pair of kings.

Martirosian turned over Q6 for a turned two pair and was sent the sizable pot.

Jaka Completes Comeback to Eliminate Soverel

Level 32 : Blinds 8,000/16,000, 0 ante
Faraz Jaka
Faraz Jaka

Sam Soverel limped on the button and Faraz Jaka shoved to put Soverel all in for a bit over 200,000. Soverel quickly called and hands were revealed.

Sam Soverel: KJ All in
Faraz Jaka: Q5

Soverel held the lead with his king, but the Q68 flop paired Jaka’s queen for a commanding lead.

The 6 turn and 9 river failed to improve Soverel. With that hand, Jaka, who was on the brink of elimination just a short while ago, advanced to the quarterfinals.

Messere Finishes Kalas Off

Level 32 : Blinds 8,000/16,000, 0 ante
Owen Messere
Owen Messere

Owen Messere limped on the button and Kane Kalas checked his option in the big blind.

Both players checked on the 956 flop and then Kalas led out for 25,000 on the 4 turn. Messere announced he was all in and Kalas quickly called all in for approximately 140,000 to put himself at risk.

Kane Kalas: 63 All in
Owen Messere: 94

Owen held the lead with a turned two pair, but would need to fade a lot of outs against Kalas’ opened-ended straight flush draw to go along with his pair of sixes.

The K river bricked out for Kalas, however, eliminating him and sending Messere to the quarter finals.

Momentum with Jaka

Level 31 : Blinds 6,000/12,000, 0 ante
Faraz Jaka
Faraz Jaka

Action was caught on the turn, with 125,000 in the pot on the 4348 board.

Faraz Jaka bet 50,000 from the big blind and Sam Soverel called from the button.

On the 8 river, Jaka sized up to 100,000 and Soverel went into the tank. He eventually found a call but gave his hand a long funeral after Jaka tabled 105 for the flush.

The following hand, Jaka opened to 25,000 and was called.

Soverel check-called for 25,000 on the K54 flop, before folding to a bet of 80,000 on the J turn.

Since finding a three-outer to double earlier on, it's been all Jaka in this duel.

Jaka Continues to Climb

Level 31 : 6,000/12,000, 0 ante

In what appeared to be a three-bet pot, Sam Soverel bet 20,000 on a 1075 flop and Faraz Jaka raised to 55,000 on the. button. Soverel called.

The dealer brought the K on the turn and Soverel checked to Jaka, who continued for 105,000. Soverel studied Jaka for a bit before letting his hand go. With that pot, Jaka has climbed nearly back to even with Soverel.

Across the table, Owen Messere has increased his chip lead over Kane Kalas.

Jaka Hits a Miracle Queen to Stay Alive

Level 30 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 0 ante
Faraz Jaka
Faraz Jaka

Sam Soverel limped on the button for 10,000, before Faraz Jaka raised to make it 28,000. Soverel immediately jammed all-in to put Jaka at risk for his last 216,000. Jaka flicked in a chip to make the call.

Faraz Jaka AQ
Sam Soverel AK

Needing to improve to stay alive, the flop ran off6A8. Although Jaka hit his Ace, he would still need help, and after the 4 on the turn, he was down to just three outs. However, Jaka's heads-up tournament would not come to an end just yet, as the Q rolled off on the river, to give Jaka top two pair, and the double-up.
