The action continues today at the 2024 World Series of Poker in the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas. Starting at 12 p.m. local time is Day 2 of one of the most prestigious events thus far, Event #52: $5,000 No-Limit Hold'em 6-Handed. The first day attracted 709 entrants with only 231 currently remaining.

Another ten 60-minute levels are scheduled today, with 15-minute breaks occurring after every two levels and a one hour dinner break at roughly 6:30 p.m. Play will resume at Level 11 with blinds at 1,000/2,500 with a 2,500 big blind ante. Players will bag and tag for Day 3 at the end of Level 20.

Bracelet winner and Winamax team pro Julien Sitbon bagged the biggest stack coming into Day 2 with 520,500 chips worth 208 big blinds. Other top stacks and notables in Day 2 include Krasimir Yankov (500,000), Joseph Roh (392,000), Damian Salas (337,000), and $25k Fantasy drafts Bin Weng (310,000) and Shannon Shorr (254,000). Since late registration and reentries remain available until the end of Level 11 at approximately 1 p.m., more recognizable faces are bound to appear within the field.

Ian Matakis called from the small blind and Lei Yu raised to 7,000 from the big blind. Matakis moved all in while he had Yu covered. Yu made the fold for Matakis to take the pot.

The following hand, under the gun raised to 5,500. Matakis jammed, having the under the gun player covered.

"I told myself I'd call," they revealed to Matakis. However, they mucked their cards for Matakis to take the pot.

Bin Weng raised the cutoff to 6,000 and Punnat Punsri shoved from the small blind. Kyungtae Min was in the big blind and committed his short stack of a few big blinds, and Weng made the call which put both at risk.

Weng was in the lead but the hand was over by the time the flop was dealt as Punsri flopped the nuts on the 732 board. Everybody ended the hand with a flush as the runout of 95 put five diamonds on board, but Punsri held the winner which eliminated Min.

The small blind raised to 13,000 and Joey Weissman defended his big blind.

The flop came 1039 and the small blind was quick to check. Weissman fired for 16,000 and received a call from the small blind.

While the J peeled off on the turn, both players were quick to check.

The K peeled off on the river and the small blind jammed all in. Weissman made an instant call as he revealed Q6 for a straight to best his opponent's 88. His opponent was sent to the rail as Weissman took the pot.

Schutten looked to be heading home but the 598 flop provided a plethora of outs for the American player.

One of those outs appeared on the turn as the 7 completed Schutten's straight, which left Papazian drawing to a chop.

No such chop would occur as the 10 river gave Schutten the double-up.

Georgios Sotiropoulos opened from the cutoff to 8,000. Brekstyn Schutten three-bet to 25,000 from the button before Sotiropoulos four-bet to 58,000. Schutten proceeded with a call.

Sotiropoulos checked the AQ7 flop over to Schutten who bet 32,000. Sotiropoulos called.

Schutten fired again when checked to on the 2 turn and he sized up to 56,000. Sotiropoulos made the call.

Schutten forced Sotiropoulos all in for his last 92,000 on the 8 river and Sotiropoulos quickly called. Schutten turned over K7 for a pair of sevens before Sotiropoulos tabled AK for aces and the winner.

Amer Has the Boss Six

On a board of 7764, Richard Kirsch had shoved all in on the turn, which left Abdul Amer the decision for his stack of around 90,000.

"Are you tanking with six-x? You have a rag six?" asked Kirsch.

Amer took around two minutes to make a decision but eventually did commit the rest of his stack.

"See, I knew you had a rag six," said Kirsch.

Kirsch was in the lead but couldn't hold on as the dealer slammed a 6 on the river, which improved Amer to a full house.

"See, I didn't have a rag six. I had the boss six," remarked Amer as he raked in the pot.
