Turbo Nguyen Speeds into the Chip Lead on Day 2 of $5,000 No-Limit Hold'em 6-Handed
Day 2 of Event #52: $5,000 No-Limit Hold'em 6-Handed at the 2024 World Series of Poker, held at the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas has concluded for the night. Only 37 players successfully bagged their chips and advanced to the third day of play.
Some 231 players returned from the first day's play, but because late registration remained open for one more level at the start of day, the total number of entrants increased to 817. This generated a prize pool of $3,762,800 and will award $656,747 to the eventual winner, plus the coveted WSOP gold bracelet.
After ten 60-minute levels of play, it was Turbo Nguyen of the United States who topped the counts with 2,700,000 in chips. Nguyen has over $2,200,000 in live tournament earnings but has yet to make his debut at a WSOP final table. This will be his fourth cash during this year's WSOP, and with the chip lead, he has the potential to make this the biggest cash of his poker career.

One of the most decorated players still in the field is the United State’s David Coleman with 1,045,000 chips. He has already made two final tables at this WSOP, finishing sixth in the Champions Reunion Freezeout and fourth in the $3,000 No-Limit Hold'em 6-Handed. With more than $5,000,000 in live tournament earnings, Coleman's record is highly impressive. Despite these achievements, he has not yet won a WSOP bracelet. As the tournament continues tomorrow, he will undoubtedly be a player to watch as he aims to make a third final table.
A major highlight for many players today was the bursting of the money bubble, ensuring they were part of the remaining 123 players who each would secure a minimum cash of $9,963. Unfortunately for Pete Chen, he became the event's bubble boy after a cooler with Jake Schwartz didn't go in his favor.
Several big names who missed out on the money today include Josh Arieh, Andrew Lichtenberger, Jack Sinclair, Nacho Barbero, and 2015 Main Event champion Joe McKeehen, who was eliminated after getting his short stack all in against the aces of John Kenner.
Notable players who cashed but did not advance to Day 3 include, Sergio Aido, Christian Harder, Kenny Hallaert, Scott Seiver, Eric Baldwin, Bin Weng, and six-time WSOP bracelet winner Jeremy Ausmus.
Day 3 begins at noon on Saturday, June 22, with blinds at 10,000/25,000 and a big blind ante of 25,000. It will take place in the Horseshoe Event Center with the goal for the day being to play down until only five players remain.
