Reed Shows the Three-Barrel Bluff
Level 3
: Blinds 200/400, 400 ante
Action was caught on the river on the board 8♥3♣2♠Q♠9♦. Robert Reed had just put Nikolai Mamut all in for his last 18,000 chips.
According to the players, preflop action had started with an open from Reed, a three-bet from Mamut and a four-bet from Reed to 5,300, which Mamut called. Reed then bet every street: 3,700 on the flop, 11,500 on the turn and all in on the river.
The pot was already 40,000 chips before Reed’s river bet. Mamut seemed to seriously consider a call. He thought for a very long time, but eventually folded.
Players at the table asked for Reed to show the bluff and he turned over A♠J♦.
Mamut later said that the had AxKx.
