What Makes Phil Ivey the Poker G.O.A.T.?

Level 28
Phil Ivey
Phil Ivey

Michael Jordan (sorry, LeBron James fans). Tom Brady. Tiger Woods. Serena Williams. Phil Ivey. What do these five superstars have in common? They're all widely considered the best to have ever done it in their respective sports.

On Thursday, Ivey captured his 11th World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet when he took down Event #29: $10,000 Limit 2-7 Lowball Triple Draw Championship (6-Handed). That puts him alone in second place behind the 17 bracelets Phil Hellmuth holds.

The flop Q102 gave Nguyen a gutshot. "I've got your outs," said Mayoh, gesturing towards his jacks. The turn was the 9 but the river A saved Nguyen and he doubled up.

On the very next hand, Christian Gonzalez opened and Nguyen called. The flop AAK and turn K were both checked and the river was the J. Gonzalez bet and Nguyen raised all in for 320,000.

Gonzalez called and Nguyen showed AKQ2 for a full house. Gonzalez showed AQ104 for a straight and Nguyen doubled up again.
