Xu Picks Up an Early One with Set Over Set

Level 1 : Blinds 100/100, 100 ante

Action was picked up on the turn with the board reading Q38J. Hang Xu was in position in the hijack, sitting directly to Paul Quiring’s left.

Quiring had checked the turn and Xu bet 4,000. Quiring raised to 10,000. After some time thinking, Xu decided to call.

The river was the 6, bringing in the backdoor flush. Quiring checked. Xu thought for a while and then declared: “This is the worst check of my life.” He tapped the table and the players turned over their hands.

Quiring had 88 for second flopped set, and Xu showed QQ for top set. Xu took down a healthy pot, but Quiring seemed to be in the better mood, not having gone broke with the set over set.
