Selbst Sent to a Day 1 Exit Courtesy of Bloch

Level 4 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante
Vanessa Selbst
Vanessa Selbst

Vanessa Selbst raised to 1,200 from middle position and got called by a player in late position before seeing Andy Bloch put in a three-bet to 4,400.

Both Selbst and the late position player called to see a 64J flop. Selbst checked as did the late position player before Bloch tossed out a bet of 7,000.

Action was back on Selbst and after about a minute, she stacked most of her chips up in a single tower and slid a 49,000 chip check-raise into the middle.

The late position player folded and Bloch entered the tank. A full three or more minutes had gone by when Selbst and Bloch started talking back and forth a bit.

"Do you have kings? No one has ever folded kings here before!" Selbst said to Bloch. "Do you have aces?" Bloch responded.

"Can I say what I have? Can I say what I don't have?" Bloch laughed.

Selbst seemed comfortable during the long tank, but eventually, Bloch stuck in the rest of his chips and Selbst, who had only left herself with around 2,000 behind, called off and did not seem happy about it.

Vanessa Selbst: AQ
Andy Bloch: QQ

Selbst was behind but still had a lot of outs with two cards to come but when the turn and river came the J and Q, Selbst's Day 1 exit was made official as the dealer turned her cards face down and pushed the pot in Bloch's direction.

Last Break of the Night

Level 4 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante
Maria Ho
Maria Ho

The Day 1c has reached an astounding number of players thus far, with roughly 3,050 players taking part in the festivities today. Some tables have started to break as players continue to bust around the rooms and approximately 2650 players are still remaining. The players are going on their last 20-minute break of the night and here is a look at the highlights from the previous level:

"Show Me if I Fold?"

Level 4 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante

Action was picked up on the river. Players were heads up and the board read J3Q4Q. Yervand "Chris Limo" Boyadjian had checked and was faced with a 7,000 bet from John Borges.

"Show me if I fold?" Boyadjian could be heard asking his opponent. "I got a big hand, don't know if I can fold. I'll owe you one"

"If you say yes I'm more likely to fold", Boyadjian continued, ostensibly hoping to get a read from his opponent.

"I'm very confused. I don't know if this is some kind of metagame" Borges replied to Boyadjian.

After asking his opponent if they would show their cards a few more times, Boyadjian eventually folded 1010 face up for two pair, tens and queens. Borges gave his opponent what he asked for, showing QQ for quads as he scooped a nice pot.

Bart Hanson
Bart Hanson

Bart Hanson was all in and at risk for his last 37,600 from the cutoff against a player in middle position on a 936 flop.

Bart Hanson: A8
Opponent: 63

Hanson needed some help against two pair, which didn't quite come on the 8 turn, but instead came on the 5 river — completing Hanson's flush and awarding him the double up late into Day 1c.

Wells Gets Paid on the River

Level 5 : Blinds 300/600, 600 ante
Shelby Wells
Shelby Wells

A player in the hijack opened to 1,700 and Shelby Wells defended from the big blind.

The flop came JJ9. Wells check-called a 2,200 continuation bet from her opponent.

Both players checked the 3 turn, leading to the A on the river. Wells bet 5,000, sending her opponent briefly into the tank.

"I can beat queen-ten... that's about all I can beat" her opponent said to himself, pondering his decision.

Eventually he flicked in a red 5,000 chip for the call and Wells showed K4 for a flush. The player in the hijack flashed the A for top pair before mucking his hand, leaving Wells to drag in a decent pot.

Pinto Pads His Stack

Level 5 : Blinds 300/600, 600 ante

The player in the cutoff raised to 1,400 and got called by the button, Michael Pinto in the small blind and the big blind leading to a K5K flop.

Both Pinto and the big blind checked and the cutoff continued with a bet of 1,500. The button and big blind folded but Pinto called from the small blind to see the 4 hit the turn.

Pinto opted to lead and did so with a bet of 4,200. The cutoff called and the dealer put the Q.

Both players checked through to showdown and Pinto turned over the QJ, having missed a flush draw but made a pair of queens on the river.

The cutoff player checked his cards again before sliding them into the muck with the dealer quickly awarding the pot to Pinto.
