Elezra Forces a Fold

Level 3 : Blinds 200/400, 400 ante

A player in middle position raised and was called directly behind by Eli Elezra and the player in the big blind.

The flop came Q56 and it was checked to the original raiser, who bet 2,000. Both Elezra and the big blind called.

The 8 fell on the turn and the initial raiser bet again for 4,500. Elezra then raised to 10,500, which got a fold from the big blind but a call from the bettor.

Elezra's opponent checked to him on the 8 river and he tossed 25,000 into the middle. Elezra's opponent eventually folded after tanking for a while and the five-time bracelet winner collected the pot.

There were two recent eliminations in the Gold section, first as Sam Snead Sweilem was eliminated holding QxJx against the AA of Concetta Rinaldi-Sorscher on a board of 6310x5xQ.

Across the room, Faraz Jaka was seen stacking up chips after his ace-king beat out pocket tens to send Tyler Matzen to the rail.

Anton Suarez bet for 4,000 into a 12,000 pot on a board that read 2108QJ. Tony Dunst was in the next seat over and was his adversary for the hand.

Dunst put out four T-5,000 chips for a raise to 20,000. Without letting much time pass, Suarez put in the call.

Dunst could only muster up a pair of tens with his A10, while Suarez was comfortably sitting on rivered Broadway with AK. He raked in the pot and is now nearing a six-figure stack.

Idan The Oe
Idan The Oe

There always seems to be that one player on Day 1 of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event who runs into a brutal cooler or bad beat to bust early. On Monday, Idan The One, who hails from Israel, was that player.

The 2023 WSOP Main Event kicked off at noon PT from inside Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas. At the time this article was published, more than 800 players already registered for the first of four Day 1 starting flights.

With about 6,000 in the middle, on the AQ77 turn Ercan Hasan bet 2,500 and his opponent made the call.

Keating Can't Find the Fold

Level 3 : Blinds 200/400, 400 ante

On a completed board of 85349, the player in the big blind bet 4,000 into a pot of around 9,000. Alex Keating was in the next seat over and inquired: "Good hand?"

His opponent smiled and nodded.

"Very good hand?" Keating asked.

After receiving another confirmation, Keating made the call. He got shown 1010 for the overpair, nodded, and forfeited the pot by mucking his cards.

Petrecca Doubles With a Full House

Level 3 : Blinds 200/400, 400 ante

Michael Petrecca was seen celebrating at Table 674 as he doubled up through Will Rickard to his immediate left.

On a board of 35325, Petrecca held 105 for fives full of threes and it was good against Rickard's flush with A2 to double his stack of around 40,000.

"It's about time I got lucky!" cheered Petrecca.

Giguere Takes From Do

Level 3 : Blinds 200/400, 400 ante

Christine Do opened to 1,000, and was only called by Edward Giguere in the cutoff.

The dealer fanned a flop of 5K9, where Do continued to 1,400. Giguere called once again and took the lead on the turn 8, after Do checked.

She called anyway, and checked again on the river 4. But when Giguere bet a second time for 5,000, she gave up and mucked her cards.
