Botez Gives Kennedy a Bad Birthday Present

Alexandra Botez and Anthony Kennedy built a pot of around 90,000 heading to the turn on a board of A♦9♣J♠Q♠ when Kennedy bet 55,000 from early position.

Botez called and the K♥ fell on the river, where Kennedy then bet 100,000. Botez, with around 75,000 remaining, tanked for several minutes as tablemates snapped photos of the board.

She eventually called all in and Kennedy turned over 9♠7♠ for a pair of nines. "Oh, my God," Botez said as she got up from her seat and showed A♥K♠ to win the pot.

Kennedy told the table his birthday is today following the hand. "That's why I played it," he said with a smile despite taking that beat.

Botez later knocked out Anatoly Filatov from this table after Filatov moved all in for around 30,000 with two eights, but Botez woke up with aces to send him to the rail.
