There was a raise to 600 from under the gun and Shelby Wells called from just a couple of seats over. The big blind also tagged along and they went three ways to a flop of Q♣7♦5♦.
The preflop raiser continued with a bet of 1,100 and both Wells and the big blind called. The turn was the J♣ and this time the action checked to Wells, who threw in a bet of 3,200. Both of her opponents folded and Wells is off to a good start in the 2023 Main Event.
Wells made a deep run last year in one of her first live tournaments ever where she eventually made an emotional exit in 97th place for $73,100. Wells mentioned on social media that she would be back again this year and hopefully go even further.
