The 2023 WSOP Main Event kicked off at noon PT from inside Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas. At the time this article was published, more than 800 players already registered for the first of four Day 1 starting flights.

Max Kingstone Eliminated in 10th Place ($37,020)

Level 43 : Blinds 2,000,000/4,000,000, 4,000,000 ante
Max Kingstone
Max Kingstone

Darrick Arreola went all in from the small blind against Max Kingstone in the big blind. Kingstone was down to just a few big blinds and had about half his stack in with the big blind and ante. Both players said they hadn't bothered looking at their cards, as Kingstone was too short to fold and Arreola was after another scalp.

Darrick Arreola: 68
Max Kingstone: 53

Both players happened to wake up with suited connectors but when the board ran out J7Q94 Arreola was ecstatic to tell his rail that he had won with eight high, a rather unlikely feat.

Kingstone played with a tremendous amount of patience and precision but won't be taking home the gold today.

Robinson Makes Quads

Level 42 : Blinds 1,500,000/3,000,000, 3,000,000 ante

Colin Robinson and Darrick Arreola decided to run five cards as they waged a raising war preflop. It turned out to be a pair versus pair confrontation.

Colin Robinson: 77
Darrick Arreola: 55

Arreola was far behind but came into the final table with quite the chip lead, so this pot would be far more crucial to Robinson.

The flop rolled, 2K10 and Robinson remained in the lead. Robinson locked up the hand on the turn when the 7 peeled he made a set followed by a bit of overkill with the 7 as Robinson made quads the table released a collective, "Ohhhh!"
