Cunningham Loses Staring Contest, Vohra Prepares to Launch

Level 3 : Blinds 200/300, 500 ante

Landen Lucas raised to 900 from under the gun, and small blind Matt Waxman, and big blind Allen Cunningham called.

Cunningham drew two with Waxman and Lucas each drawing one. It was checked to Lucas, who bet 1,200. Waxman folded and then Cunningham, winner of the 2002 $5,000 No-Limit 2-7 Lowball Draw bracelet, began staring down Lucas, the 10th place finisher in last year's event. Eventually, Cunningham conceded the hand.

While the hand happening, Raj Vohra approached the rail and began a conversation with Waxman. "What is this game?"

"No-limit deuce to seven," answered Waxman. "It's like hold-'em, except there's no flop, it's draw, and you play for low."

"No limit? So all you have to do is bluff and raise, and everyone folds? Is this why everyone folded? That's it. I'm buying in. I'm sitting at your table, and I'm going to win this thing."

"Make sure they give you Table 100," replied Waxman.
