Ibanez Undoes All of Hughes' Hard Work

The under-the-gun player opened to 4,500 before Johann Ibanez made it 16,500 from middle position. Ryan Hughes called from the button, and the original raiser also came along.

Action checked to Hughes on the 10♣5♠2♠ flop and he fired out for 30,000. The under-the-gun player folded, but Ibanez potted it to 144,500. Hughes then jammed as the bigger stack, and Ibanez quickly called for his tournament life to set up one of the biggest pots of the day.

Hughes was ahead with his top two, but Ibanez had the flush draw to go along with his additional outs.

The 7♥ turn also gave Ibanez a straight draw.

The river would decide the fate of both players, with Ibanez either out or one of the big stacks. If Hughes could hold, he'd be the clear chip leader.

The 6♠ river resulted in a loud "Vamoooooos!" from Ibanez who binked the flush to seal the checkmark.

Hughes had been one of the bigger stacks all day but saw his hard work evaporate late on in Day 1.
