2023 World Series of Poker
In 2022, 2,812 entrants were registered for this $800 No-Limit Hold'em Deepstack WSOP Event. However, this year's event has already surpassed that number, as 2,820 players are already in by Level 7.
More than 200 people are still lining up at the entrance of the room, waiting to take a seat. As a reminder, late registration will be open until the end of level 12.
In the Paris White section, most of the contestants have been seated since the beginning of the day.
Among them, Mike Garcia had already stacked 135,000 in chips. He opened on the button for 2,200 and both blinds called.
On the flop of K♣9♥Q♥, both blinds checked and Garcia continued to 3,000. Both blinds called.
On the turn 5♠, the small blind took the lead with a 6,500 bet. It was enough to take the pot straight away, as Garcia folded.

Action was caught when the dealer fanned a flop of 3♦10♦7♣ with around 5,000 chips in the pot. Two players had cards in front of them: Antonin Scalzi from the small blind, who checked, and the player on the button, who checked-back.
The Q♥ hit the turn, and Scalzi took 3,000 chips out of his stack to bet. He was called by the button.
When the 6♠ completed the board, Scalzi bet another 7,000, keeping just 13,000 chips behind. His opponent saw this short stack but just called. A second later, he gave his cards to the dealer, as Scalzi revealed 9♥8♦ for a straight.
