Kelly Hits Runner-Runner to Devastate Opponent
Greg Kelly, who told PokerNews he prefers to be called “Rabbit,” raised 4,000 in early position, and then saw the player in the small blind three-bet to 11,000. The action returned to Kelly, who called.
The dealer fanned 10♥3♠4♦ on the board, and both players checked. The turn saw 9♥, and the player in the big blind checked.
“OK, I’ll check,” Kelly said.
The river showed Q♣ and his opponent led out with 16,000. Kelly took a moment to count out his remaining stack, and then moved all in for his remaining 58,250. His opponent had Kelly covered and quickly called, and then was stunned to see Kelly, who tabled K♥J♥, was on the receiving end of a runner-runner nut straight.
“I had a set,” the player said as the pot was pushed to Kelly.
Kelly scored a double up and his opponent was left with just 13,500.
