Soulsby Makes Quads to Crack Aces
In a three-way pot of just under 10,000 on a flop showing 7♣6♥7♠, a player in the big blind led out for 3,000 and Michael Monicatti bumped it up to 13,000 next to act. Stephen Soulsby was on the button and moved all in for 51,600. The big blind called for less to put themselves at risk and Monicatti went deep in the tank.
After close to a minute of deliberation, Monicatti tabled 8♣8♠ to show the fold and the other two players hands were opened.
Opponent: A♣A♠
Stephen Soulsby: A♥7♥
It was a cooler flop for the aces against the trips for Soulsby, and when the board ran out 5♦7♦, it was the quads that put salt on the wound for the big blind as they made their way to the exit.
Soulsby told PokerNews as he scooped in the pot that it's his first time in Las Vegas and his first ever WSOP event.
