Williamson’s Aggression Pays Off
Peter Williamson raised to 125,000 from under the gun, prompting the action to fold to a player in the big blind, who made the call.
The dealer placed 5♠2♠3♥ on the board, which the big blind checked. Williamson methodically counted out 170,000 from his stack and pushed it forward. His opponent made the call.
The 10♠ hit the turn, which the big blind checked. Williamson took a moment to study the board, and then reached down with both hands and pushed the rest of his stack forward as an all-in bet.
His opponent leaned back in his chair, glancing repeatedly at Williamson, who didn’t flinch. The opponent went in the tank for a little more than a minute, studying the board and counting his own stack, which barely covered Williamson, before folding.
“Did you have a pair?” the player in the big blind asked.
Williamson peeked down at his cards, then looked to his opponent with a wide grin without giving a verbal response as he tossed his hand to the middle of the table.
