Charania Chipping Down

Level 8 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

In a three-way raised pot, the flop was {9-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{3-Spades} when the big blind checked and so did Mohsin Charania. James Richards, on the button, bet for 5,600 and only Charania called.

The turn brought the {10-Clubs} and Charania didn't take long to check-fold after Richards sent a second barrel for 7,200.

Barry Greenstein
Barry Greenstein

Three-time bracelet winner Barry Greenstein was in the action on Day 2d. An early-position player limped in for 1,200 and it folded to Greenstein in the hijack who raised to 5,000 and only the limper made the call.

The flop came {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} and early position checked to Greenstein who bet 5,000, which was enough to fold out his opponent and take down the pot.

Lucky Sevens for Polson

Level 8 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Lawrence Ma raised to 2,500 from late position and received calls from Javier Gomez, Eric Polson and Vanessa Kade. The flop came down {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}{j-Diamonds} and all four checked.

A {7-Clubs} turn had Kade and Ma checking to Gomez who bet 3,800. Polson called while the other two got out of the way to let them battle it out.

The {a-Diamonds} on the river didn't slow down Gomez who fired out another bet of 7,800 which Polson called. Gomez showed {a-Clubs}{5-Clubs} for trip aces but Polson flipped {7-Spades}{7-Diamonds} for sevens full of aces which was good to take down the pot.

An Orbit with Polk

Level 8 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Doug Polk
Doug Polk

Hand #1: Doug Polk limped in from the small blind and Claudio Branco Moreira checked his option in the big blind. The flop came {k-Clubs}{9-Spades}{6-Clubs} and both players checked to the {4-Hearts} on the turn. Polk led out with a bet and Branco Moreira quickly folded.

Hand #2: There was a raise to 2,700 from middle position and Polk three-bet to 8,500 on the button. The blinds folded and the initial raiser also let his hand go.

Hand #3: Polk opened to 2,600 in the cutoff and the big blind three-bet to 8,000. Polk called and the dealer fanned the flop of {j-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}. The big blind checked to Polk who bet 6,000 and the big blind called.

The turn was the {j-Diamonds} and both players checked to the {k-Spades} on the river. The big blind led out for 10,000 this time and Polk folded.

Hand #4: Tongguang Sun raised to 2,500 in early position and Polk three-bet to 8,000 in the hijack. Sun responded with a four-bet to 21,000 and Polk folded {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts} face up.

After losing a couple of hands, Polk opted to take the next four hands off.

Hand #5: Branco Moreira raised to 2,500 from under the gun and was called by Sun, the small blind and Polk in the big blind. The flop fell {j-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{4-Hearts} and the action checked to Sun who bet 5,200. The small blind and Polk both folded but Branco Moreira called.

The turn was the {8-Hearts} and Branco Moreira check-called another bet of 17,000 from Sun. The {8-Diamonds} completed the board and both players tapped the table. Branco Moreira turned over {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs} and was awarded the pot.

Good Gets Better

Level 8 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

On a heads-up turn board of {q-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{6-Spades}, Daniel Mizrachi bet all but one-one hundred chip into the pot against his oppenent, Edward Good. But then Good made him put that last chip in the middle by raising all-in, putting Mizrachi at risk.

Daniel Mizrachi: {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}
Edward Good: {k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}

Good had already flopped the second nut flush, which left Mizrachi drawing only to another diamond to give him the nut flush, but the river {a-Hearts} did not do it and he was eliminated from the tournament.

Kolev Comes Over the Top

Level 8 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

From the button, Jacob Thibodeau three-bet to 13,600 over a hijack raise from Hai Le and a cutoff call from Yuliyan Kolev.

Le called the three-bet. Kolev jammed for close to 200 big blinds. Despite a healthy stack, Thibodeau was covered by the shove and quickly folded. Le surrendered his cards as well as he chose to preserve his large stack and Kolev gathered his pre-flop haul.

Chu Shoves River

Level 8 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

The flop {7-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} was already dealt in a heads-up pot when Justin Chu check-called for 13,000 against Russell Richtmyer seated in the cutoff.

The turn {2-Diamonds} brought no betting action and a {3-Clubs} hit the river. Chu shoved for a remaining stack worth less than 45,000 and Richtmyer snap-folded his cards.

Lett Delivers Brutal Boat-Over-Boat Beat to Bold

Level 8 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Joseph Bold
Joseph Bold

Joseph Bold, who came into today as the third-biggest stack from Day 1d, opened for 2,500 from the cutoff. The button and the small blind called but Justin Lett would three-bet to 13,000 from the big blind. Bold called and the other two players got out of the way.

The flop came {6-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{6-Clubs} and Lett continued for 7,700. Bold called.

The turn brought the {10-Hearts} and Lett put in a bet of 12,000. Bold called once more.

On the {7-Diamonds} river, Lett shoved for his last 53,400 and Bold snap-called but was met with some harsh news.

Although Bold flopped a full house with his {5-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}, it wasn't enough as Lett had turned a better full house with his {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades}, which left Bold chuckling in astonishment.

Even though Bold missed out on a pot worth nearly 180,000, he is still very much cruising with 227,300 (about 190 big blinds).
