Mcgrotty Doubles Up

Level 24 : Blinds 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante

A player in late position opened to 100,000 and was called by Austin Apicella out of the small blind as well as William Mcgrotty in the big blind.

Both blinds checked on a flop of {2-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{j-Hearts} and the late position player continued for 150,000. Apicella folded while Mcgrotty made the call to send the two remaining players heads-up to the turn.

Mcgrotty checked for a second time on the {8-Diamonds} turn and the late position player, unwilling to slow down, pushed 395,000 into the middle. After some time Mcgrotty announced all in and his opponent wasted little time in making the call.

William Mcgrotty: {q-Clubs}{9-Clubs}
Late Position Player: {j-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}

Though at risk, Mcgrotty was way ahead and would only need to dodge jacks and tens heading to the river to score the full double. He was able to do so after the {7-Diamonds} rolled off on the river, sending his stack north of 2,000,000.
