Holmes Takes it with River Bet

Level 2 : Blinds 200/300, 300 ante

2021 Main Event runner-up George Holmes made headlines last year as he battled eventual champion Koray Aldemir heads-up while having just one previous cash to his name. The Georgia native would eventually fall but has returned with his eyes on another deep run.

Holmes, on the button, called a raise to 900 from early position. The big blind called as well, giving three-way action to the flop.

On the {7-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} flop, all three players checked leading to a turn of {4-Hearts}. The preflop aggressor continued for 1,800. Holmes called while the big blind got out of the way.

On the {9-Spades} river, Holmes was checked to, and he fired 6,000 into the pot. His opponent quickly mucked, giving the pot to last year's runner-up.
