Whitlow Scores Triple Up Before Break

Level 16 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

An open to 17,000 from early position got two callers: Vincent Lam in late position and Judy Whitlow in the small blind.

On the {9-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{j-Hearts} flop, Whitlow led out for 15,000. The early position player put in a raise to 50,000. Lam called before Whitlow jammed for a total of 82,000. "Does that open it back up?" the early position player asked. Lam was quick to inform it didn't, as her shove was not a complete min-raise, so they could only call or fold. Both players chose to call.

On the {4-Spades} turn, the early position player quickly moved all in and Lam called even faster, putting himself at risk and creating a three way showdown with side pot action.

Judy Whitlow: {j-Spades}{j-Clubs}
Vincent Lam: {9-Hearts}{9-Spades}
Early Position: {a-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

Whitlow had the best of it with her set of jacks, while Lam was ahead for the side pot with a set of his own. The early position player would need a heart that didn't pair the board in order to scoop anything. The {3-Spades} river satisfied neither of these, instead improving both Lam and Whitlow to full houses. Whitlow scooped the main pot for the triple up while Lam took in the side pot as a consolation prize.
