With The World Series Of Poker on its final leg, today begins Event #79: $10,000 Razz Championship, the second of two Razz events occurring at this WSOP. The popular stud-game variant has been a staple of the WSOP for decades and this year sees the two tournaments placed back-to-back near the end of the series.
Last year saw Benny Glaser beat Everett Carlton heads up, as well as a star-stacked final that included Phil Hellmuth, Erik Seidel, John Monette, and Yuri Dzivielevski, to take down his fourth WSOP bracelet for $274,693. Glaser will look to defend his title against a likely larger field than last year.
Other players likely to dazzle this event with their presence include current POY leader Dan Zack, Scott Seiver, Frank Kassela, Daniel Negreanu, and all time WSOP Razz earnings winner Phil Hellmuth, who has won two bracelets in Razz in the past.
The tournament will begin with 60,000 starting stack with a 100 ante, and a 200 bring in to a 500 completion. The limits will begin with 500/1,000 with the blinds going up every 60 minutes. A 15-minute break will occur after every two levels with players playing a full 10 levels for Day 1 before bagging up for Day 2. Registration will be open the entire day, with it only closing at the beginning of Day 2.
