Basel Chaura Eliminated in 3rd Place ($250,157)

Level 41 : Blinds 1,000,000/2,000,000, 2,000,000 ante
Basel Chaura
Basel Chaura

Ryan Riess opened for 4,500,000 from the button and Basel Chaura shoved his remaining 18,100,000. Riess asked for a count and then made the call.

Basel Chaura: {q-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}
Ryan Riess: {4-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}

The {7-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{3-Clubs} flop was very favorable to Riess, maintaining his lead and giving him a gunshot straight draw as well.

However, the {q-Clubs} turn gave Chaura top pair and the lead, though it also gave Riess the club flush draw.

When the {j-Clubs} hit the river, neither player initially realized that Riess had made the flush but it was enough to eliminate Chaura in third place, earning him a quarter of a million dollars.
