2022 WSOP Featured Females: Lara Eisenberg Talks Poker's Impact on Dementia

Level 29 : 600,000/120,000, 120,000 ante
Lara Eisenberg
Lara Eisenberg

For our newest edition of 2022 WSOP Featured Females, we interviewed bracelet winner Lara Eisenberg, a radiologist who shared some insight into poker's effect on the brain long-term and if Daniel Negreanu was correct when he insinuated that women aren't wired to be interested in poker.

Eisenberg is currently quarantining after testing positive for COVID-19 during the World Series of Poker. The Maryland native will head back out east as soon as she's cleared to return to civilization. Her case, thankfully, was mild.

PokerNews spoke with the medical professional by phone to discuss her poker career, and also pick her brain on what poker actually does to our brains.

Preflop action had Julie Le raising on the button to 210,000 and receiving a call from big blind, Sandy Tran. A {k-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} came down on the flop and both checked.

The turn was a {6-Clubs} and Tran check-called Le's 120,000 bet.

A {4-Hearts} on the river had them both checking and showing their hands. Tran flipped over the {10-Spades}{8-Clubs} for a pair of eights, ten-kicker and Le showed {a-Spades}{8-Spades} for the same pair but the ace played and she took the pot.

Julie Le opened from under the gun to 250,000 and Natalie Hof decided to shove next to her for a stack worth 900,000. It folded back to Le who snap-called:

Natalie Hof:{a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}
Julie Le: {6-Spades}{6-Diamonds}

Hof was in a typical flip situation, and the board gave her some hope for the flush with {4-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{3-Clubs} but a {8-Spades} hit the river and Hof was eliminated in eighth place for $16,710.
