Van Fleet Loves the Ruling

Level 33 : 150,000/300,000, 300,000 ante

John Ciccarelli opened from early position to 600,000. Action folded to Jon Van Fleet on the button, who reraised to 1,700,000. Ciccarelli made the call and it was heads-up action to the flop.

The {7-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{j-Clubs} flop was checked through before Van Fleet fired for 2,500,000 on the {4-Hearts} turn. Ciccarelli made the call.

On the {q-Diamonds} river, Van Fleet attempted to bet 5,000,000, but misspoke and said five thousand as he pushed 5,000,000 worth of chips into the middle. The floor was called and ruled that his words were binding, and his action must be a min bet of 500,000. Van Fleet was initially upset about the ruling, saying "that sucks." Ciccarelli made the call, and they tabled their hands.

Van Fleet showed {a-}{k-}, for ace high. Upon seeing this, Ciccarelli let out a loud "Fuck!" as he turned over {j-Spades}{j-Diamonds}, for a set. After realizing that he had lost the pot, and that the ruling had saved him 4,500,000 in chips, Van Fleet's mood on the ruling changed, saying "I love that ruling" as Ciccarelli scooped the pot that could have been bigger.
