Goodman's Top Pair Good Enough

Level 8 : 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Lance Goodman was one of four players in a more than 10,000 chip pot going to a flop of {7-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{k-Clubs}. The under the gun and middle position players both checked to Goodman, who checked it to his opponent. After a bet of 6,000 from the hijack, Goodman called after the two other players got out of the way.

On the board pairing {2-Diamonds}, Goodman then chose to lead for 10,000 into the opponent in the cutoff. After his opponent made a big raise of 42,000, Goodman jammed all-in for 100,000 more and got called.

With cards turned over, Goodman had the lead with his {k-Hearts}{q-Spades} ahead of the {9-Clubs}{10-Clubs} (flush draw) of his opponent. {8-} fell on the river and Goodman collected almost a full double-up and knocked out the other player.

After an impressive second place in a circuit ring event last month, Goodman is looking to go one better in this event. He was all smiles as he now has over five times the starting stack.

Morris' Shove takes down 40,000 Pot on the Flop

Level 8 : 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Preflop action was on the hijack following calls from under the gun and two early position players. The hijack raised to 5,200. Pete Morris reraised to 17,000 from the cutoff. Action folded back around to the hijack, who called.

Action now heads up, the flop came {10-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{9-Clubs}. The hijack checked to Morris, who quickly moved all in. Morris' opponent thought for a few minutes before making the difficult fold, showing the table his hand, {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}. He received praise from the table for the fold, stating they believed Morris to have queens, but it was Morris who received the 40,000 pot.
