Vargas and Leigh Battle

Level 34 : 400,000/800,000, 800,000 ante

Jordan Vargas pushed for the rest of his stack from the cutoff against Andrew Leigh in the small blind. Leigh turned over his cards for a quick call, and it was pair against pair before the flop.

Jordan Vargas: {7-Spades}{7-Clubs}
Andrew Leigh: {q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}

The first three cards all but sealed it for Leigh when it came {9-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{10-Spades}, leaving Vargas drawing for only a few outs.

A {j-Clubs} on the turn meant he'd need a seven to stay alive, but the {3-Diamonds} was not what he wanted.

Each player had two pair, and Leigh's pocket queens were enough to eliminate Vargas, but he remained in high spirits for his deep run in such a huge tournament.

He talked to this reporter at the payout desk, and was happy to work his short stack after the break past another payout jump. It will not be the last we see of Jordan Vargas.
