Derose Then Defall

Level 10 : 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Four players were all in preflop with the small blind (2,500), under-the-gun John Derose (23,500), and Tianyi Mu (45,000) in middle position at risk. The button covered the other players.

Small Blind: {2-Spades}{2-Diamonds}
John Derose: {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts}
Tianyi Mu: {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}
Button: {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}

The flop of {a-Clubs}{9-Spades}{4-Hearts} gave Derose the lead with a set of nines. The {k-Hearts} turn gave Mu and the button two pair, but the {6-Spades} river helped no one. The small blind headed to the exit, Derose more than tripled up and a chopped side-pot for Mu and the button.

The very next hand Mu and Derose had their chips in the middle preflop once again, this time Mu was the effective stack for 21,500.

Tianyi Mu: {8-Clubs}{8-Spades}
John Derose: {k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}

The {10-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{a-Hearts} flop was pretty safe for Derose, but Mu drilled the {8-Diamonds} on the turn for a set. the {5-Clubs} river was no help for Derose and Mu doubled up to get close to parity from the hand previous.
