After ten levels of play in the prestigious Event #46: $5,000 6-Handed No-Limit Hold'em at the 2022 World Series of Poker at Bally's and Paris Las Vegas, Day 1 has ended.

Ten hours of play brought in many big names. Some came and went, and many came and stayed. The tournament ended up totaling 850 entrants. There will be 277 players returning from Day 1, but before Day 2 begins at 2:00 p.m. on June 22 players can still buy in, so there will undoubtedly be more runners joining the fray before action is underway again.

Chris Brewer bagged up a tournament-leading stack of 485,000 chips, a solitary T-5,000 chip more than Oliver Bosch in second place.

Household names such as Daniel Negreanu, Bertrand Grospellier, Ben Heath, final tablist from last year Jonathan Jaffe, 2019 Main Event runner-up Dario Sammartino, Spanish poker legend Adrian Mateos and defending champion Scott Ball entered on Day 1, and most have bagged for Day 2.

Some 604 players entered this event in 2021, so having 850 people in the mix already is bound to create massive payouts for the top finishers. Last year's winner received over $560,000 for his victory, and this year's winner will take home at least $600,000.

Some of the biggest stacks in the room include Daniel Lazrus (349,500), Alex Peffly (349,000), Chance Kornuth (339,500), the 2013 Main Event champion Ryan Riess (317,500), and two-time bracelet winner Calvin Anderson (255,000).

Day 2 of the event will be held at Bally's Ballroom, just a short walk from the Paris Ballroom where Day 1 was played. Day 2 kicks at 2:00 p.m. on June 22, and sees ten 60-minute levels played, with a 60-minute dinner break after Level 16 (around 8:30 p.m.). Official payouts and prize pool will be viewable shortly after late registration closes.

Negreanu Takes it Down

Level 10 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu

With less than ten minutes to go before chips are bagged for the night, the big blind shoved all in and the only caller was Daniel Negreanu in the small blind.

Opponent: {q-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}
Negreanu: {a-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}

The flop came down {j-Spades}{2-Hearts}{2-Clubs} and the{10-Spades} on the turn gave Negreanu a pair but also a gutshot straight draw for his opponent. The {k-Hearts} on the river sealed his fate though and Negreanu won the hand and sent his opponent to the rail.

Oh Ma Gosh, Someone Got Chips From Anderson

Level 9 : 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante
Calvin Anderson
Calvin Anderson

Calvin Anderson was raised from early position to 3,000 and was called by the cutoff, the button, and big blind, Felix Ma.

After Anderson lead for 4,000 into his opponents on the {7-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{a-Clubs} flop, only Ma called.

Anderson kept up the aggression on the {5-Diamonds} turn, betting 12,000. Ma wasn't going anywhere and he called.

The {4-Spades} river slowed Anderson down, and he checked. Ma checked back.

Ma flipped his {a-Spades}{10-Hearts} for the win and an important chip up. Anderson still has a top chip stack in the room.

Top Pair Ho-lds Up

Level 7 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Maria Ho
Maria Ho

Maria Ho had raised under-the-gun to 2,200 and Darren Elias called from the button, the big blind came along too.

On a {8-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{2-Hearts} flop, the big blind checked and so did Ho. That gave space for Elias to fire 2,100 into the pot which folded out the big blind.

After Ho called the bet, the {a-Spades} fell on the turn. Ho decided to now lead out for 6,500 and Elias called.

The {8-Hearts} river completed the board and both players slowed down checking their options.

Ho showed {a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} which was good against Elias' holding.

Filatov Flushes Out

Level 4 : 300/500, 500 ante
Anatoly Filatov
Anatoly Filatov

Anatoly Filatov on the button and the big blind called a preflop raise of 1,000 from the cutoff. The flop came down {9-Hearts}{6-Spades}{4-Spades} and it was checked around to Filatov who bet 2,000. The big blind folded and the cutoff called.

A {10-Spades} on the turn had the cutoff check-calling Filatov's 2,000 bet.

On the river a {6-Diamonds} came out and it was once again checked to Filatov who bet 10,700. The cutoff sat in the tank for a while before calling. Filatov flipped over {a-Spades}{7-Spades} to show the flush he turned and the cutoff tossed his hand into the muck.

Pablo Melogno

After Joaquin Melogno opened from the small blind to 1,200 and Adrian Mateos called in the big blind.

On to a flop of {7-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{9-Clubs}, Melogno bet 1,000 only to have Mateos respond with a raise to 3,500.

Melogno then made it 7,000 and Mateos quickly mucked.

Welcome to Day 1 of Event #46: $5,000 No-Limit Hold’em 6-Handed at the 2022 World Series of Poker. The event will be kicking off at 3:00 p.m. PT today at Bally’s and Paris Las Vegas.

The reigning champion for this event is Scott Ball who defeated a field of 604 entries to make it out on top to receive the first place prize of $562,667 and his first gold WSOP bracelet. Players will begin this four-day event with a starting stack of 50,000 chips and blinds at 100/200/200. They will play 60-minute levels with a 15-minute break every 2 levels before calling it a day to bag their chips after Level 10. Late registration is open until the start of Day 2, Wednesday, June 22nd, at 2:00 p.m. PT.
