Broadway Keeps Altensey Afloat

Level 14 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Perry Altensey moved all in for 23,000 from middle position and was called by a player in late position. One seat over from the caller, another late position player re-jammed for 67,000. Action folded back around to the late position caller, who, after some deliberation, folded.

Perry Altensey: {q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}
Late Position Player: {j-Hearts}{j-Clubs}

Altensey was at risk and behind but the {k-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{10-Spades} flop was an interesting one, improving the late position player to a set but also giving Altensey an open ended straight draw as well as the possibility of a backdoor flush.

The {a-Diamonds} turn was gin for Altensey, who now had broadway and would only need to avoid the board pairing on the river to secure a triple up. The {7-Spades} river was clean for Altensey, who in the space of one hand moved from being a shorty with less than ten big blinds to sitting on a fairly comfortable stack.
