Ruben Gets Three Quarters of All-in Pot

Level 28
Brad Ruben
Brad Ruben

Big O

Brad Ruben opened from the button before Marco Johnson announced, "pot," from the small blind for a bet of 225,000. Ruben thought for a bit and made the call in position.

The flop brought {j-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}. Johnson quickly said pot, and Johnson slid all his chips into the middle. Both players were quickly all in and hands were revealed.

Marco Johnson: {j-Hearts}{a-Spades}{a-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{4-Hearts}
Brad Ruben: {a-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{8-Hearts}

"Diamonds are live," said Ruben.

They both had the ace-four low, Ruben had an open-ended straight draw and flush draw. The turn and river didn't complete either of those draws, but they did bring the oft-forgotten backdoor trips when the {8-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} showed up.

"Let's go!" shouted Ruben as he cheered with his rail and chipped up by quartering his opponent.

Marco Johnson opened the pot in early position and Naoya Kihara made the call from the big blind.

On the first draw, Kihara took one while Johnson took two. Johnson bet and Kihara called.

On the second draw, they each drew one less card, Kihara drawing two, and Johnson with one. Once again, Kihara called Johnson's bet.

On the final draw, both players now took one card. One last time, Kihara check-called Johnson's bet.

Johnson showed {7-Hearts}{6-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} for number three low and a three-card Badugi hand, which was enough to scoop the pot.

Joe Takes a Monster Without Showdown

Level 27

Badeucy

Dean Joe, Jaswinder Lally, and Alfred Atamian went to the first draw in a three-way pot. All three players took two.

Joe bet and both opponents called. Lally and Atamian took two, while Joe settled for one. He bet again and got two calls.

On the third draw, Joe stood pat while his opponents each drew two. Joe bet again and Lally folded. Atamian then spent a few minutes in the tank as the other players in the table got up to go on break.

He eventually gathered his cards and tossed them back to the dealer. "Did you want me to call," he asked Joe.

"I'm happy with the chips," Joe replied as they joined their tablemates on break.
