Volpe Out, Bubble Play Commences

Level 15
Paul Volpe
Paul Volpe

Action folded to Brian Hastings in the small blind who raised. Paul Volpe, the shortest stack left in the tournament. called out of the big blind to send the two players heads-up to the initial draw.

On the first draw Hastings took three cards to Volpe's two. Hastings then bet out enough to put Volpe all in. Volpe made the call for his tournament life.

The second draw saw Hastings take two cards while Volpe stood pat. The same drawing pattern was repeated during the final draw and Volpe turned over {9-}{7-}{4-}{3-}{2-}. Hastings, meanwhile, held {7-}{6-}{4-}{3-}, needing an eight or two to eliminate Volpe. Hastings slowly peeled the last card before flipping over {8-} to send Volpe to the rail two spots off the money. With Volpe's elimination, just 19 players remain with 18 spots getting paid, meaning that the tournament is now on the official bubble.
