Bronshtein Short After Siegel Double

Level 19
Yuval Bronshtein
Yuval Bronshtein

Jordan Siegel raised and called a re-raise from Yuval Bronshtein. Both players drew two and Siegel check-called a bet from his opponent.

Siegel drew two and Bronshtein drew one. Siegel checked and Bronshtein bet. Siegel raised and Bronshtein re-raised with Siegel all in for 130,000.

Siegel stood pat and Bronshtein agonized over his decision before patting behind. Siegel tabled {8-}{6-}{4-}{3-}{2-} and Bronshtein, who held {8-}{7-}{6-}{5-}{2-} asked to see what the top card was. The top card was a {3-} — he would have made a seven — but as it was he doubled Siegel up.

Zack's Ascent Continues

Level 19

Daniel Zack has enjoyed a red-hot start to the day. The same cannot be said, however, of Yuval Bronshtein. Bronshtein opened from the cutoff and Zack three-bet out of the big blind. Bronshtein called to send the two to the initial draw.

Zack took one card to Bronshtein's two and action then checked through to the second draw, where the same drawing pattern was repeated. This time Zack led out and was called.

Zack took one more card on the final draw and then fired off another bet after Bronshtein stood pat. Bronshtein thought long and hard about his decision but eventually found a fold to keep Zack chipping and send himself slipping down the chip counts.

Phil Hellmuth Eliminated in 8th Place ($31,552)

Level 19
Phil Hellmuth
Phil Hellmuth

Dan Zack opened on the button and Phil Hellmuth called out of the big blind.

Both players took two cards on the initial draw after which Hellmuth check-called the continuation from Zack.

Hellmuth took another two on the second draw while Zack stood pat. Hellmuth then checked to Zack, who threw out another bet and was called.

The final draw saw Hellmuth draw one more card and Zack once again stand pat. Hellmuth checked and Zack fired off a bet. This did not seem to please Hellmuth, who said, "Dan fucking Zack, what the fuck. Two fucking days of this". Hellmuth did eventually make the call and was shown {8-}{7-}{5-}{3-}{2-}. "This fucking guy", continued Hellmuth as he threw his hand away, leaving himself with just 35,000.

A few hands later Hellmuth was all in from the button and Eric Wasserson responded with a raise from the small blind. Zack re-raised out of the big blind and Wasserson called.

On the first draw Wasserson and Hellmuth both took two cards while Zack drew one. Wasserson then check-called a bet from Zack.

The second draw saw Wasserson and Hellmuth each take another two and Zack stand pat. Wasserson then called a second bet from Zack.

Wasserson and Zack stood pat on the final draw and Hellmuth drew what would be his last two cards of the tournament. Zack led out for a third time, which persuaded Wasserson to release his hand. "Number two" announced Zack as he turned over {7-}{6-}{4-}{3-}{2-}. Hellmuth, mustering some grace, wished the table good luck as he tossed his hand away. He will have to wait for another day to extend his bracelet record.
