Roongsak Griffeth Eliminated in 6th Place ($49,414)

Level 31 : 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante
Anant Patel
Anant Patel

Roongsak Griffeth opened with an all in for 970,000 from early position. Anant Patel went all in himself from late position for 2,340,000.
The rest of the table folded and hands were turned over.

Roongsak Griffeth: {8-Hearts}{8-Spades}
Anant Patel: {q-Diamonds}{q-Spades}

The board was bad for Griffeth when the {4-Hearts}{5-Spades}{q-Hearts} came out, giving Patel top set. The {9-Spades} turn and {k-Diamonds} river made it official and Griffeth was eliminated.

"First pair I've had all day," noted Patel. This one sent about a million chips in his direction and one stop closer to the bracelet.

Level 31 : 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante

Austin Peck wasted little time in moving all in, getting a snap call from Michael Simhai. With Peck the player at risk, the two flipped their cards.

Austin Peck: {2-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}
Michael Simhai: {a-Hearts}{a-Spades}

With Peck well behind and on the brink of elimination, the board came {9-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{4-Spades}{8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}, offering no help to Peck. Simhai's aces had held, sending Peck to the rail in 7th place for a cash of $38,455. Meanwhile, Simhai scooped the pot and entered the chip lead.

Simhai Puts Griffeth to the Test

Level 30 : 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante

Ravi Raghavan opened to 225,000 from the hijack. He found three callers, Roongsak Griffeth from the cutoff, Michael Simhai from the button, and Timothy McDermott from the big blind.

The flop came out {a-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{6-Spades}. Action checked to Griffeth who bet 500,000. Only Simhai made the call in position.

On the {8-Spades} turn, Griffeth went for the check. Simhai quickly moved all in.

"Why didn't you do that on the flop?" asked Griffeth.

"Two people behind," grumbled Simhai.

After thinking for about a minute, Griffeth made his decision. "I'll fold a monster," said Griffeth as he showed the {a-Diamonds}.

"That's a monster? I flopped two pair," admitted Simhai.

Raghavan Doubles Up through Dowdy

Level 30 : 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante

David Dowdy fired for 250,000 from the button. A moment later, Ravi Raghavan announced that he was all-in from the big blind, with the effective stack of 2740000. Dowdy made the snap calling, tossing a single 5,000 chip into the middle.

Ravi Raghavan: {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}
David Dowdy: {q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}

No help came for Dowdy, as the board came {6-Spades}{8-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{j-Hearts}. Raghavan's kings had held. In doing so he double his own chip stack, while taking a significant chunk out of Dowdy's leading stack, with that lead down to less than half a million.

Dowdy Continues to Steamroll

David Dowdy opened to 225,000 from late position. Austin Peck called from the button and Roongsak Griffeth called from the big blind.

The flop showed {4-Clubs}{2-Spades}{6-Diamonds}. Dowdy continued for 300,000, Peck made the call, and Griffeth let it go.

The turn was the {6-Clubs}. Dowdy checked the card and Peck took the opportunity to bet 460,000. Dowdy assembled the 460,000, but announced "all in," as he slid in the calling chips.

Peck immediately folded.

"Strange," Peck thought out loud.

However it happened, Dowdy won another pot and added to his overwhelming lead.

Roongsak Griffeth opened to 250,000 from early position and Michael Simhai made the call on his immediate left.

The flop showed up {j-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{4-Clubs}. Griffeth continued for 350,000 and Simhai made the call in position.

On the {9-Spades} turn, Girffeth bet 600,000. After some thought, Simhai laid it down.

"You fold a jack?" asked Griffeth as he showed {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}.

"What do you think, I called you with nothing"? replied Simhai, implying that he did have a jack.
