Action picked up on fifth street with Jean Gaspard in the lead and betting with Phil Ivey calling. On sixth street Ivey paired his seven and bet with the lead, Gaspard called. Both players checked seventh street. Ivey tabled the winning two pair tens and sevens while Gaspard said that he had sixes and deuces from fourth street but was unable to improve and sent the pot to Ivey.

He then made a pair of queens on fifth and bet which got Friedman to fold and Ivey was off to a nice start as one fan in the crowd clapped for the ten-time bracelet winner.
