Acuna Eliminated, Penalty Issued in Controversial Hand

Level 7 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Gilbert Acuna was eliminated in a controversial hand that began with a preflop raising war between Acuna and Sondre Bjornebekk.

Acuna checked on the flop of {6-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} and Bjornebekk moved all-in with approximately 100,000 already in the middle.

"Oh, you've got aces," Acuna said before flipping his hand face-up and showing {k-}{k-}.

Bjornebekk flipped over {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds} and Acuna then tossed in a chip for a call, claiming that he had not called yet when he flipped over his hand.

Bjornebekk accused his opponent of angling by tabling his hand before making a decision and Acuna denied the accusation. The floor was called over and ruled that the Acuna's call would stand and gave the player a one-round penalty for exposing his hand.

The turn brought the {10-Diamonds} and Bjornebekk clapped as he improved to a flush and held after the {a-Hearts} river.

"Karma," he said after winning the hand.

As it turned out, Acuna would not be around for his one-round penalty as Bjornebekk had him slightly covered and he was sent to the rail.
