Huge Pot Launches Cheng Up Leaderboard

Level 3 : 200/400, 400 ante

A massive pot just developed at table 503, as Gary Cheng opened on the button to 1,000 and was three-bet by Hiroki Nawa in the small blind to 4,000. Cheng responded with a four-bet to 10,000, which Nawa called.

The flop came {9-Spades}{7-Spades}{5-Spades} and both players checked.

The action picked up again on the turn as Nawa led for 5,200 on the {2-Diamonds}, which Cheng raised to 14,500. After some deliberation, Nawa called.

The river brought the {5-Hearts} and Nawa checked to Cheng, who didn't slow down. He bet 32,000, leaving himself just 22,000 behind.

Nawa went deep into the tank, thinking for over five minutes before Andrew Brinkley called for the clock.

A floorman came over and gave Nawa the 30-second countdown. As the count hit 'one', Nawa tossed in calling chips.

Cheng showed {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds} and Nawa unhappily tossed his cards into the muck.

Cheng is now among the day's chip leaders with that pot.
