Cates Shows Down Two Pair

Level 14 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

Dan Cates, Cliff Josephy, and Gavin Cochrane went to the river on a board of {5-Spades}{j-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{8-Hearts}. Action checked to Cates on the button, who bet out 140,000.

Josephy quickly folded, but Cochrane stuck in a call. Cates showed {k-Spades}{8-Spades}{5-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} for two pair, kings and eights, and Cochrane mucked.

"Obvious king-eight in that spot," Cates said.

Aleksandrovski Leaves Shak Stunned

Level 14 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

Alex Aleksandrovski and Dan Shak got the last of Shak's 125,000 chips in the middle on the {5-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{3-Clubs} flop.

Dan Shak: {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{10-Clubs}
Alex Aleksandrovski: {k-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{5-Spades}

Aleksandrovski had two pair but was well behind the flopped flush of Shak. The {k-Clubs} turn gave Aleksandrovski a higher two pair, and he made a full house on the {9-Spades} river.

"You got it? You got to be kidding me," a stunned Shak said as he stared at the board before making his exit.

Yu Rivers Flush to Bust Herm

Level 14 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

Mark Herm raised to 35,000 preflop and Ben Yu defended his big blind. The flop came {k-Spades}{j-Spades}{9-Hearts} and Herm got his last 55,000 in the middle.

Mark Herm: {k-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{8-Spades}{6-Hearts}
Ben Yu: {k-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{10-Spades}{5-Spades}

Both players had flopped a king and a straight draw, but Herm was ahead with his queen-kicker. The {j-Diamonds} fell on the turn, followed by the {7-Spades} on the river to make Yu a flush and eliminate the online legend and two-time bracelet winner.

Sinn Shows the Bluff

Level 13 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

In a multi-way pot, Charles Sinn bet 80,000 on the turn with the board showing {9-Spades}{8-Spades}{k-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} and only Shaun Deeb called. The river came the {6-Spades} and Deeb checked over to Sinn, who bet another 100,000.

Deeb used a time bank card as he went into the tank for about a minute before eventually folding. Sinn showed {4-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} and took the pot.

"Professional," tablemate Iaroslav Boiko said.

"I wish," Sinn replied. "That was fun."

"Not for me," countered Deeb.

Lau Wins Some Back as Arieh Burns Through Time Extensions

Level 13 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Ka Kwan Lau
Ka Kwan Lau

Josh Arieh was in a heads-up pot against Ka Kwan Lau on a board of {9-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{4-Hearts} with around 500,000 in the middle.

Lau moved all-in on the river for approximately 220,000 and Arieh began a three-minute tank that robbed him of his five time extensions.

Arieh was on his final time extension when the dealer counted down from five before his hand would be dead. Arieh did not act and he mucked his hand after letting his final extension expire.

"I can't believe I used all my tokens," Arieh said after surrendering the pot. "I would have bet anything that I wouldn't have used all my tokens."

Schindler Comes. Schindler Goes

Level 13 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Jake Schindler took his seat before late registration closed during the break, but his time in the tournament would be short-lived.

On his last hand, Alexander Petersen raised to 20,000 from the button before Schindler re-raised to 67,000. Petersen then bet enough to put Schindler all in.

Schindler, with around 150,000 behind, used a time bank before calling.

Jake Schindler: {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{6-Hearts}
Alexander Petersen: {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}

Schindler got no help on the {9-Clubs}{2-Spades}{3-Spades}{7-Spades}{5-Spades} board and quickly made his exit from the tournament area.
