Henson Heads the Last 11 Into Day 3 of Event #7: 1,500 Dealers Choice

Ray Henson

After two already incredible days of mixed game action at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino, Event #7: $1,500 Dealers Choice reaches its crescendo Tuesday as the final 11 players battle for the gold bracelet.

Along with Day 2 Chip leader Ray Henson (1,365,000) striving for his first WSOP bracelet, the field has several great stories developing.

Naoya Kihara (400,000) is on the verge of back-to-back final tables in this event after finishing fourth in this event in 2019. He’ll be looking to better that result, but comes into the day with one of the shorter stacks in the room.

Day 1 chip leader Nathan Gamble’s (480,000) journey into Day 3 was on cruise control until a bumpy last level dropped him down in the chip counts. Can he rebound and claim his third WSOP bracelet?

2018 and 2019 champion in the $10,000 championship version of this event, Adam Friedman (330,000) will be looking to tempt fate, as his offer to bust in 16th for the privilege of eliminating Norman Chad has already been surpassed. Will the poker Gods allow him to run up his short stack and make a charge at another mixed game bracelet?

Play resumes at 3:00 pm local time in the Amazon room, and PokerNews will have all the action leading to a winner claiming the bracelet and the $97,915 first prize.

Naoya Kihara got his last 100,000 chips in on fourth street during a four-way family pot.

Christopher Lindner bowed out of the action on fifth street, leaving Ray Henson and Jaswinder Lally against Kihara.

Once their boards were completed, Henson and Lally split the pot and Kihara mucked, falling short of making back-to-back final tables in the event.

Seven Card Stud

A monster hand of Stud went down that saw Ian O'Hara send over all but 240,000 of his chips to Jaswinder Lally. The former had made a {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{3-Clubs} flush and barely bested the {a-Spades}{q-Spades}{10-Spades}{7-Spades}{x-Spades} flush of O'Hara.

In the next hand, Lally brought it in with the {5-Clubs} showing and the short-stacked Nathan Gamble completed. Christopher Linder raised it, Lally folded, and Gamble got it in for 135,000 total. Linder called and the hands were tabled.

Nathan Gamble: {j-Spades}{6-Diamonds} / {j-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{2-Diamonds} / {k-Hearts}
Christopher Linder: {k-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} / {k-Spades}{2-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{6-Clubs} / {q-Clubs}

Gamble got it in with jacks only to run into Linder's kings. Linder improved to two pair on seventh while Gamble failed to get there. With that, "surfbum" saw his quest for a third gold bracelet come up short in seventh place.

Ian O'Hara

Omaha Eight or Better

Chip leader Jaswinder Lally raised from the button into Ian O'Hara's big blind, which O'Hara defended.

On a flop of {6-Spades}{5-Hearts}{4-Hearts}, O'Hara led out for over half of his remining stack. Lally said "I have a bad hand, but I have to", and raised to put O'Hara all-in. O'Hara called.

Ian O'Hara: {10-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{3-Spades}{2-Spades}
Jaswinder Lally: {q-Clubs}{9-Spades}{7-Clubs}{5-Spades}

Following the runout of {2-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}, O'Hara's six-high straight was best for high and low, doubling him up to over 400,000.

Seven Card Stud 8 or Better

Christopher Lindner is the latest victim of Jaswinder Lally's seven card rungood, and has been eliminated.

Facing a bet from Lally on fifth street, Lindner took his time before continuing in the hand. He then called a bet on sixth street and then raised Lally on seventh street for the last of his chips.

Lally happily called, revealing he had started the hand with rolled up deuces, and filled up on sixth street.

Christopher Lindner: {q-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}/{3-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}/{6-Spades}
Jaswinder Lally: {2-Hearts}{2-Spades}/{2-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}/{8-Hearts}

Lally's stack now sits at 3,700,000.

Andrew Kelsall brought it in showing the {4-Spades} and Adam Kipnis completed. Jaswinder Lally then raised to 160,000, Kelsall got out of the way, and Kipnis called off his last 15,000.

Adam Kipnis: {9-Spades}{9-Clubs} / {q-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{k-Spades} / {k-Diamonds}
Jaswinder Lally: {k-Hearts}{5-Spades} / {5-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{j-Clubs} / {a-Spades}

Kipnis got it in good but things turned south quickly as Lally ripped off a full house in the first five cards. Lally was left drawing dead after sixth street and took his leave from the tournament in fifth place.
