Level 7 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Monnette continued for 2,500 and Vengrin called to the {2-Spades} turn. Vengrin then took the lead betting 6,000 and Monnette called to the {k-Spades} river. Vengrin fired again for 15,000 and Monnette took a few moments before making the fold.

Sammartino and Glaser Battle in the Blinds

Level 7 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

The button limped in as did Dario Sammartino in the small blind. Benny Glaser raised to 4,000 in the big blind which got the button to fold but Sammartino called to see the flop of {k-Spades}{j-Spades}{j-Clubs}. Sammartino checked to Glaser who bet 2,000 and Sammartino called.

The turn was the {a-Clubs} and both players checked to the {q-Hearts} on the river. Sammartino jammed all in for 11,200 and Glaser had to think about it.

"Would you jam a straight here?" Glaser asked.

"Of course I would jam a straight. If I had a straight, I would jam," Sammartino replied.

Glaser opted to let his hand go and Sammartino raked in the pot.

Henson Doubles Through Chait

Level 7 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Ray Henson
Ray Henson

A three-way pot to the turn became a heads-up battle after Ray Henson moved all-in against a raise from Craig Chait.

Ray Henson: {a-Spades}{7-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{3-Clubs}
Craig Chait: {a-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{2-Clubs}

The board was showing {7-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{7-Hearts} when the chips went in, with Chait ahead for the high with a full house and Henson in position for half the pot with the nut low hand. However, the river {5-Clubs} gave Henson a superior full house to scoop the pot and double up through Chait.

Schulman In, Matusow Out

Level 8 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Mike Matusow was down to his last 6,300 chips when he raised to 3,500 in early position. Dan Shak was in the big blind and re-raised which got a snap-call from Matusow.

Matusow showed {k-}{k-}{8-}{4-} while Shak held {a-}{9-}{7-}{2-}. The flop came ace-high to give Shak a pair of aces and he also made the best low hand as well, sending Matusow to the rail on Day 1.

Just moments later, Nick Schulman entered the room and will be looking to defend his title.

Arieh Finds a Good Runout

Level 8 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Josh Arieh was heads-up with an opponent in what was turning out to be a big pot. The flop came {q-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{2-Spades} and the two players got all of their chips in the middle for a little over 70,000 chips each.

Opponent: {a-Hearts}{j-Spades}{4-Spades}{3-}
Josh Arieh: {q-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{5-Hearts}{3-Hearts}

The {q-Clubs} turn card favored Arieh who made trip queens. The {k-Spades} on the river ensured no low hand would be made and Arieh scooped the pot, eliminating his opponent.

Negreanu and Sinn Eliminated

Level 8 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Justin Jones and Charles Sinn were all-in on the turn of a {k-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{9-Hearts} board, with both players noting that they couldn't get away from their hands.

Charles Sinn: {k-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{8-Spades}{3-Clubs}
Justin Jones: {a-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{10-Hearts}

Sinn's set of kings were trailing the king-high straight of Jones, who improved even further to Broadway on the {q-Hearts} river to earn the pot. Jones slightly covered Sinn to eliminate him during Level 8.

At a nearby table, Daniel Negreanu was seen recapping his final hand for his vlog on his way out of the Amazon room.

Nut-Nut for Taylor

Level 8 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Esther Taylor
Esther Taylor

Esther Taylor limped in from under the gun which invited three other players to see a flop of {6-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}. The blinds checked and Taylor tossed in a bet of 2,500 which only the button called.

The turn brought the {j-Clubs} and both players checked to the {2-Hearts} on the river. Taylor threw in a bet of 8,000 and her opponent contemplated for a minute but decided to fold. Taylor showed {a-Spades}{7-Hearts}{5-Spades} for the nut-high and the nut-low as she dragged in the pot.
